ABOUT US
Born and raised in Mangere East on the southside of Auckland, NZ in the early 70's, I now call the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia home.
Heavily colonised and raised by fluent speaking Maori parents, my culture and language was not prioritised in the home, therefore, my knowledge of Maori language, art and crafts was very limited.
Now, in my 50's, I find myself returning to my cultural arts and crafts I once enjoyed as a child while spending time with my Nanna Miro Tipene.
I was introduced to Taaniko by my Nanna who back in the late 80's, would be called upon to judge Taaniko pieces made and then auctioned, by students at Queen Victoria High School.
I create unique contemporary Maori pieces.
This is my expression of my culture, love and skills that my ancestors, Kuia, Tupuna once carried with honour and pride.
